Semester 1 Exam

Disclaimer: The black in the photo of the T-shirt does not blend correctly with the background of the image itself. This would not be the case on the actual t-shirt; the background of the image would blend with the black shirt.

Reflection

1. Quality of work                The quality of work I put out in this class I would say is either average or slightly above average, but definitely has a long ways to go to being great. My work is always completed on time (with the exception of my animation where I experienced technical problems), and I pay attention to the correct format and resolution. However, while I do take note of the objective of the assignment, I need to work on taking it a step further and incorporating a few of my own ideas. 2. Effort                 While I put a significant amount of effort into my work, I probably could be giving even more. I take time to learn new things on photoshop in order to make my design work, however if I think it will be too difficult, I may tend to go a different route that doesn't make the piece as good. I find it interesting to look at other people's work to see their take on the assignment, and sometimes I will try to keep in mind their methods for my future work

Lost in the World

1. The general premise of this video is that people are too dependent on their phones and obsessed with their self-image to notice what is going on around them. They are almost like robots with no thoughts of their own, just following a program. 2. The video is effective in conveying its message. The video is just creepy enough to make people pay attention and it shows problems of society in the form of a cartoon. 3. I feel that this video was an examination of our society today rather than a warning because many of the events happening in the video are evident today. The part where the husband and wife are taking a photo in the hospital while the new baby is crawling around shows how parents can sometimes be neglectful to their children thanks to devices. Also, when the girl jumps off the building the bystanders video it and then walk away rather than helping her. This is a reflection how people today say they care about a situation online, but in reality do nothing to solve th

Social Media Questions 1. The trend highlight in the article is colleges tending to look up applicants on Google or social media sites. 2.  I believe this trend will continue. This is because as social media continues to becomes more widespread, it allows colleges to have more of an inside look of who they will be accepting into their college. 3. This could affect a student's future because if colleges are looking at their account and see something they don't like, they could deny admission to that student. The same goes for employers looking at an applicant's social media.

Art Generators

Image
weavesilk.com This art generator was easy to use and did not take a lot of control to make the art. You could change the color, and way that the color formed by selecting the amount it would "spiral". However, if you are wanting more control over your work this generator may not be for you. It was not the easiest to save this image, as it had to be saved from a thumbnail and I did not know how to do that until I asked for help. thisissand.com This art generator mimicked the process of making sand art which I found to be unique to many of the art generators online. You could change the color  but not much else. By dragging your mouse across the screen you could dump sand to make an image, however the "mountain" shapes were inevitable as the sand would always come to a point. This website is good if you just want to play around or make a simple design, however, if you want to make a specific image, it could be a bit tricky. Saving the picture was very eas

Mutation

Image
This mutation strain is called the sniff disease. Visible physical changed include swollen lips, enlarged forehead, pointy nose, thin neck, chubby cheeks, and squinted eyes. Physical changed that are not visible include sparkly blood, extreme smelling abilities, and bones that are made of iron instead of calcium. I have of course been slightly depressed due to this drastic change, however I will just have to get through it.  I have gained a much better sense of smell. I am now able to tell who is who by their sent alone, much like a dog.  I have not noticed much of a change in habits. I have been craving sesame seeds for some reason along with pumpernickel and radishes.  This mutation has definitely affected relationships and social life. My boyfriend broke up with me because of how my face looks, and many of my friends are embarrassed to be seen with me. None of them ever want to post pictures with me anymore.  This mutation has made me want to lea

The Power of Internet Images 1. Jenny portrays the image of being fun, adventurous, happy, artsy, wealthy  2. I think she was successful in portraying the image of herself described above. By posting pictures of things that one does not normally do everyday shows that she is fun and adventurous. She shows she is happy by simply posting the pictures - if she was unhappy she would most likely not post. She gives an artsy vibe in her profile by posting pictures of what she is doing (with scenic backgrounds) rather than just her face. She shows she is wealthy by wearing nice clothes in her pictures, and going on adventurous travel excursions in not cheap. 3. I think she would be a good role model as she would be likely to push one to be adventurous and take risks without getting one into trouble. She may be a good mother but her pictures portray her being a bit too immature for motherhood. She would probably be a good neighbor as she does not seem to cause too much trouble. Sh
